ASSENT is the biggest steel fabrication company in the GCC with over 2,500 employees and projects across USA, Europe, Canada, Asia and Africa. ASSENT Connect Plus is a user‑friendly internal communication mobile app designed to bridge the gap between office staff and labour. The app keeps everyone aligned with company updates and news in multiple languages while staying true to the ASSENT brand.
I conducted stakeholder interviews with employees in different roles to understand their communication needs, pain points and expectations from the app. I also studied existing internal communication channels to identify best practices and gaps. Because the workforce is highly diverse, research focused on multilingual behaviour so that the experience would feel natural regardless of language preference.
I created key personas for both office staff and site workers. Ruby, an office‑based employee, is tech‑savvy, fluent in English, and wants concise updates with quick access to information. Raj, a labour worker, has limited tech exposure and prefers a straightforward interface and news in his native language. These personas guided decisions around navigation, density of information, and language switching.
The visual system closely follows ASSENT’s brand guidelines, with a strong focus on clarity, accessibility and inclusivity. The colour palette uses core brand colours to reinforce trust and recognition, while typography is chosen for legibility across devices and screen sizes. Layouts are clean and modular so content can scale as the company grows.
I started with low‑fidelity wireframes to map information architecture and user flows, then evolved them into interactive prototypes to validate the experience with real users. A core focus was making the language switch seamless so employees can consume updates in the language they are most comfortable with.
The app icon and logo were simplified from the original mark into a more abstract, modern symbol that still feels distinctly ASSENT. The simplified geometry works well at small sizes and across both light and dark backgrounds.
The final UI brings together the research, personas and brand language into a sleek, intuitive experience. Employees can quickly browse news, announcements and resources with clear visual hierarchy and familiar mobile patterns.
Localized news and updates for Hindi‑speaking employees.
A mirrored experience tailored for Bangla‑speaking workers on site.
A highly legible, geometric sans‑serif type system supports multiple scripts and remains readable at smaller sizes, which is essential for long‑form updates and dense information.
The colour palette extends ASSENT’s core brand colours into a functional UI system with clear roles for primary actions, states and alerts, while keeping the overall feel professional and industrial.
ASSENT Connect Plus successfully unites office staff and labour around one communication platform. Its multilingual experience ensures that every employee can stay informed in their preferred language, strengthening culture and trust while making day‑to‑day operations more efficient.
